Nancy, Thank you for all you have done for me. Thanks to you, I am the head teacher at a charter school. You inspired me to always strive to do more for the kids. Your passion was contagious. There are many who made it to college or a program with my help, and that is all thanks to you! You made an impact on so many educators, your influence touched so many. Thank you for all you have done, I wish we could have had lunch one last time.

I just shared this obituary with my daughter Carly who is out of the country right now teaching in KSA. Carly was one of the student teachers that Nancy invested in at the U of O. As parents we are so appreciative of Nancy's encouragement and mentoring. She had a significant role in Carly's life. She was a remarkable person.

So sorry to hear of this... Nancy had a way of deeply sensing her experience that really touched me, and which I've remembered ever since I got to know her.

Both my sons were in her cooking class at Roosevelt and thought she was an excellent teacher: "She explained things really well."

Eugene has lost a treasure. I know so many whose lives were touched by Nancy. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this difficult time.

My thoughts are with Pete, Jenine, Ben and Bryan as I read this morning of Nancy's passing. My heart goes out to you.

Pete knows this story, but it may be news to the rest of the family. In February of 1969 Nancy and I hitchhiked from Boulder, Colorado to San Francisco. On the way we were stranded outside of Salt Lake City early one bitter cold morning. We spent hours on the side of the freeway with no shelter in sight.
