Nickelson-Cummings Funeral Home - Hampton Obituary

Nancy Angela Renee Parker Williams, affectionately known as “Sweet Renee” peacefully gained her wings at home on August 10, 2024.

Born May 25, 1955, Renee was the oldest of 8 children to the late Lena Mae Parker and Willie Bromo Parker Jr in Hopewell, Va. She grew up in Surry, Va with her siblings and a host of cousins until the family later moved to Hampton, Va.

In her last two years of high school she moved to San Fernando, California alongside her mother and siblings. Renee graduated from San Fernando High School and shortly after her graduation the family moved back to Newport News, VA.

Renee was an active member of Shalom Baptist Church in Newport News, Va and a part of her mother’s family ministry, Philadelphia Church of Praise & Deliverance Outreach Ministries.

Renee had a lifelong career as a Certified Pharmacy Technician in California and Virginia, which she enjoyed. Most of her pharmacy career was at Mercury West Pharmacy in Hampton, Va. Renee always had a big smile and encouraging words for her co-workers and to all the customers that came through the pharmacy doors. When the pharmacy closed in 2015, Renee remained in the healthcare field and began working as an office receptionist at Riverside Mercury West Medical Center where she continued to encourage and be a shining light to her co-workers and patients until her retirement in June 2018.

Renee was formerly married to Darrell Williams of Newport News, Va, and they had one daughter, Leah Williams. Leah has three sons who Renee referred to as her “Pooh Bears”, who she loved, encouraged, and supported in every way possible. Renee loved being surrounded by her family. Whether it included games, singing, or just sitting around talking. To her, there was nothing like family and you didn’t have to be blood related to be family. She opened her doors to whoever was in need, and she was also going to make sure you ate. Love was all that mattered.

Renee was preceded in death by her parents Lena Mae Parker and Willie Bromo Parker Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory; her daughter, Leah Williams; grandsons, Jeremiah Butler, Silas Butler, and Judah Hope; sister, Jacqueline Parker; brother, Eric Parker; sister, Sonja Parker; brother, Jeffrey Parker (Barbara); brother, Aaron Parker (Teri); sister, Stephanie Parker; brother, Stacey Parker (Cheryl); and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Viewing will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024 @ 10am up until start of service @ 11 am at Shalom Baptist Church, 1111-24th St. Newport News, VA 23607.
