Skaja Terrace Funeral Home - Niles Obituary

Nancy Ruth Redig, née Spino, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on Thursday, July 20th, 2023. Nancy was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 24, 1939 to the late Dorothy Schraft Spino and Nicholas Spino. Nancy met her husband, Kurt, at a Halloween party and they were married on September 21,1957 and subsequently moved to Niles. They went on to open Redigs' Bookstores and have four children, Pamela Redig-Phillips (Rob), Kathy Redig-Czarnik (Ray), Daniel “Danny” Redig (Michele) and Garry Redig (Chrisie). “Nana” Nancy is survived by her four children, her brother, Tommy, four grandchildren, Michael Arbogast, Scotty Czarnik (Danielle), Ally Redig-Nielsen (Josh), Shauna Czarnik-Connelly (Keenan) and great-granddaughter, Iversyn Jade Czarnik. We find great peace in knowing our mom and dad are together again with their family, friends and many beloved pets who have passed before them.

Visitation for Nancy will be held at the Skaja Terrace Funeral Home 7812 N. Milwaukee Ave. Niles, IL. on Thursday, July 27th 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by Funeral Mass held at Saint John Brebeuf Church at 11:00 AM. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove. In lieu of flowers, donations to Paws Chicago or the ASPCA in honor of Nancy’s love for all animals.

Pam, I'm so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. She had such a great life with each of you kids and grandchildren. It's comforting to know she is now with your dad and all of those long lost dogs that they had. Sending hugs to you, Kathy, Danny, and Garry. Cheryl

Dear Redig Family,
My heart is broken for you all. Losing a parent is heartbreaking and life changing. All I can think about is how much your Mom missed your Dad. They were soul mates. May that thought bring you some peace and comfort when special events are planned sparking a tearful memory.
