Nancy Renner
Nancy Louetta Gammon Renner, age 85, passed away November 1, at her home in the St. James community, surrounded by her family.
Born and raised in the Caney Branch/St. James communities, Nancy was a lifetime member of Meadow Creek Presbyterian Church. She spent the first years of her daughter's lives working inside the home before venturing out to work at Greene Manufacturing and Numark, all while cultivating her copious garden, hand making clothes, and helping on the farm. She set the example that hard work takes many forms. Nancy was a testament of dedication to her loved ones, showing her affection by nurturing, cooking bountiful meals, sharing fresh grown vegetables or home canned foods. Nancy proved success was not measured by materials, but in relationships. As a cornerstone of her community, Nancy was someone you could count on to know the comings and goings. Invariably charitable, there wasn't a fundraiser she didn't aid. Always the first to arrive, she would save a whole row of seats at ball games and recitals, never missing one. She was an inspiration to her family-a true matriarch. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
Nancy is survived by her two daughters: Louann Southerland and Ginger and Michael Ottinger; four granddaughters: Jessica Wishon (Michael), Audra Southerland (Devin), Holli Stapleton (Trey), and Hope Ottinger; six great grandchildren: Lindle, Colsie, Jones, Cohen, Griffith and Marlow; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Diane and Milton Parham and Sandy Renner; several nieces, nephews and friends in the St. James community; special friends: Virginia Waddell, Carolyn Renner, Pat Mathes and Doris Bible.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years: Glenn Renner. Also preceded in death by three brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous other brothers and sisters-in-law along with parents Landon and Gaynell Gammon.
