Floyd Mortuary and Crematory Inc. - Lumberton Obituary

We are heartbroken to share that Nancy Herring Rowell, age 78, of Lumberton NC, passed away in her home Friday, September 19, 2025 after bravely facing cancer.

She was born on October 27, 1946 to the late Letha Rome Herring and Janie Rice Rhodes.

Nancy graduated from Kings College in Charlotte, NC. She worked in finance at the Robeson County Public Health Department for over 20 years, and then at the Town and Country Movie Theater for several years after she retired from the Health Department. In her later years, she spent countless hours reading books and creating beautiful quilts. Her time by the Shallotte River, watching for herons and jumping fish, was a source of great joy.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Stephanie Price.

She is survived by her partner, Dennis Michael McCarthy; daughters, Ashley (Tim) Roberts and Rebecca (David) Watkins; stepsons, Thomas Rowell, Steven Rowell, Kenneth Rowell, and Edward Rowell; her sister, Sue (Norman) Klase; nephews, Norman III and Kevin; and two grandchildren.

The visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton with a memorial service to follow at  3:00 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Jeff Blackburn officiating.
