Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth Obituary

Nancy M. Schmitt

Frankenmuth, MI

Passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Covenant Healthcare Harrison; age 77 years. Nancy Miska was born on April 30, 1944 at St. Mary’s in Saginaw, MI to the late Frank and Lottie (Kaspryzk) Miska. She was married to William Schmitt on August 5, 1967 at Our Lady Help of Christians in Buena Vista; he survives her.

Nancy attended grade school at St. Joseph’s in Saginaw and then transferred to Buena Vista High School and was a member of their very first graduating class in 1962. Following high school, she attended the Saginaw Business Institute for Secretarial School. Nancy worked various jobs over the years but spent many years as the front door hostess at Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth. She enjoyed her work and traveling, but she especially loved her family and watching her three men enjoy their foolish hobbies. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was very important to her and she treasured those memories.

Surviving besides her husband William are: sons Christopher Schmitt and Erick (Roshanda) Schmitt; grandchildren Jaela Richardson, Christian, Maverick, Andrew (Chelsea), Emilie, and Elise Schmitt; great granddaughter Bella Schmitt; sister Rose (Francis) Kostrzewa; brother-in-law Nestor Schmitt; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents Nancy was predeceased by her daughter Julie Brandow; father and mother-in-law Nestor (Arlene) Schmitt; and sister-in-law Arlene Schmitt.

Memorial service will take place on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin Street. Father Patrick Jankowiak will officiate. Nancy’s family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Saginaw County Animal Shelter.

Not sure what to say?

Bill and Family,

I am so sorry that I did not make it to the celebration of Nancy's life. It has been a while since we were in touch but I will still miss that she is no longer here. We knew each other from high school and when we both worked at The Equitable. She was my maid of honor and shared some fun times getting ready for the wedding. She gave me your mother's bread and butter pickle recipe, Bill. I still use it. She was such a sweet and loving person. May she rest in...

Bill, Chris, Erik and family,

You may not know this but Nancy saved my prom day! She assisted with last minute necessary dress alternations and the much needed pressing of my dress. She gladly and graciously helped when I came to her not knowing how to pin up and press a silk and lace dress myself. My mother was out of town and I was lost as to what to do without ruining the dress. Honestly that little gesture meant the world to me on that day and I never forgot it. She...

To Bill and family,
We were saddened to hear of Nancy’s passing. May God comfort you during this time. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all.

Bill, Chris, Erick, & family,
As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends. Nancy will be expecting "life's routines" to include those "foolish hobbies" as she watches over all of you with a peaceful smile.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.

Our condolences on the passing of Nancy. May her memory be a blessing to all of you. Take comfort that she is with our heavenly Father and her suffering is no more. God bless all of you.

Bill, Christopher, Erik, and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Nancy can now party with Uncle Harry and Aunt Rosalie as well as all the other family members that have passed before her.
As for me, I always enjoyed my conversations with Nancy at our family gatherings. She was so sweet and funny. She will be sorely missed.
May you have peace knowing she is in the Lord's hands and no longer needs to suffer. Our prayers are with you during this time of sorrow.
Our...
