Prata Funeral Home - Pawtucket Obituary

Nancy ("Squirrel") Carol Silvia, born July 3, 1965, died peacefully with her family by her side Saturday morning, May 16, 2015 after battling advanced-stage lung cancer with unbelievable courage and optimism for nearly a year and a half. She is survived by her husband William H. Silvia, five daughters Erica Lynn Fontane, Victoria Lynn Charette, Amber Lynn Charette, Stacey Silvia, and Nichole Silvia, three grandchildren Nicholas, Charlie, and Alexandria, and two cats Tickles and Red. Nancy was always laughing and smiling, even when she was in terrible pain towards the end of her life. She brightened up every room she entered and always sought to cheer up those around her. She was undoubtedly what you would call a chatterbox and made friends wherever she went. She was a skilled and hard-working carpenter and painter by trade. She loved the ocean and collected angel figurines throughout her life that she displayed proudly in her home. She loved animals, and had a succession of cats who would cuddle up with her as she read her favorite Stephen King novels or completed her crossword puzzles. But more than anything she loved her husband, children, and grandchildren fiercely and with a passion. If you would like to attend Nancy's memorial service to pay your respects and celebrate her short, but vibrant life, it will take place this Friday, May 22nd, at the Costigan-O'Neill Funeral Home located at 220 Cottage Street in Pawtucket, RI beginning at 4 p.m. with a service to take place at 7 p.m. All are welcome.
