Woodfin Funeral Chapel - Murfreesboro Obituary


Nancy T. Stanford, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away peacefully at her residence on September 22, 2016. She was born in Sparta, TN to the late Pruitte and Lona Chaffin Trobaugh. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Stanford and sister, Joann Passons.



Funeral service will be 10:00am Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Julian Goodpaster officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.



She is survived by her daughter, Maureen (Matt) Caudle, grandchildren, Kathleen Grace and John Owen Caudle, sister, Linda Bandy and her niece, Nicole (Bobby) Hensley.



Mrs. Stanford graduated from White County High School and received her Bachelor and Masters from MTSU in Education. She was the Media Specialist at Bellwood Elementary School for 29 years and enjoyed sharing her love of books. Her love of reading was passed down to her daughter and granddaughter. She was a member of North Boulevard Church of Christ.



Active pallbearers are Matt Caudle, Jeff Day, Dwight Caudle, Steve Peterson, Jackie Reavis and Don Witherspoon.



Honorary pallbearers are Glenn Randolph, Reese L. Smith III, Stephen B. Smith, Owen Stanford and John Owen Caudle.



Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association in her memory.



Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00pm Monday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. 615-893-5151. An online guestbook will be available at www.woodfinchapel.com

Mrs. Stanford was very special to my daughter Carla while she attended Bellwood school. She help nurture Carla's love of reading, and for that our family is ever grateful. Our deepest sympathy to you and your family. She will be missed by many.

I have many fond memories of your mom when I taught with her at Bellwood. She always had a smile and kind, supportive words for me when I was a new teacher. She spoke of you often and with such joy, so I know she loved you very much. My prayers are with you and your family.
