Nancy Anne Rockhill Stevenson COLUMBUS Nancy Anne Rockhill Stevenson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on March 20, 2016, peacefully at her home with her loving husband and family by her side. Born on October 18, 1932, to Frederick D. and Marion L. Rockhill of Columbus, NJ, Anne was a resident of the area all of her life. Anne married the love of her life, Maurice W. Stevenson, on Sept. 12, 1953, built their first house together and soon began to raise a family. Anne, along with her husband Maurie, established and operated Stevenson Supply Company of Mount Holly, NJ, and was an active member and First Day School teacher at Crosswicks Friends Meeting. Anne was a founding member of the Country Pool Club and swim team in Chesterfield, NJ, a longtime member of the Chesterfield PTA, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and a volunteer at Moorestown Friends School through the Thrift Shop for over 25 years. Taking a lifetime to grow up, Anne's body could no longer keep up with her youthful spirit. She learned to downhill ski at the age of 50 and was seen zip lining and crazy golf cart driving with her grandchildren at the age of 80. She was a lover of chocolate and the queen of Old Wive's Tales. Anne was a fun-loving, strong-willed, humble and proud woman. Anne was often the leader of fun times in Maine with her husband, children and grandchildren. These activities included fishing, wave running, boating, swimming, hiking, tubing and card playing. Often seen on the sidelines of swim meets, races and games, Anne was the number one fan, often driving hours to watch her children or grandchildren participate. She enjoyed spending winters in Florida during her golden years. Her children and grandchildren often visited Florida and spent time with Anne walking, riding bikes, playing cards, enjoying the beach, pool and relaxing and enjoying each other. Anne's family was very important to her. She enjoyed life and was a positive role model for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anne is survived by her beloved husband of over 62 years, Maurice W. Stevenson; her five children, Laurie A. Gorby and her husband, Dr. David R. Gorby of Battleboro, NC, William M. Stevenson and his wife, Lisa, of Crosswicks, NJ, Drew W. Stevenson and his wife, Sharon, of Southampton, NJ, Mandy S. Hudson and her husband, Wayne, of Sparks, MD, and Brian L. Stevenson and his wife, Kristiana, of Southampton, NJ; her brother, Frederick (Bud) Rockhill and his wife, Alice, of Jensen Beach, FL; 10 grandchildren, Rebecca and Andrew Gorby and his wife, Ashley, Chelsea and Will Stevenson, Brad Stevenson and his wife, Marcy, Cole, Pearce and Scott Hudson, Catelyn and Elizabeth Stevenson, and two great-grandchildren, Eli and Wyn Gorby. Anne was predeceased by her parents, Frederick D. and Marion L. Rockhill; her siblings, Robert (Bob) Rockhill, Jeanne Youngs, Doris and Eunice Rockhill, and her grandson, Kyle Stevenson. A gathering for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening, March 24, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Peppler Funeral Home located at 122 Crosswicks St., Bordentown, NJ. At the request of the family, Interment will be held privately. A memorial service will be held at Crosswicks Friends Meeting House on Sunday, April 24, at 1 p.m. A special thank you to the caregivers from Cadbury at Home and Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice. Their compassionate care enabled Anne to rest comfortably and peacefully in her home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice, 5 Eves Dr., Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053, or Crosswicks Friends Meeting, P.O. Box 456, Crosswicks, NJ 08515.
