What can I say? that would even come close to how sad I am. I feel that they are all gone now. I loved Nancy and she was so much a part of our lives growing up and even to the present. Nancy was family to all us Hurley's. She was the best friend my mother and dad ever had. She took such good care of my mother and I know it was not easy for her. I will miss hearing her same my name>she had of way of saying Barbie that I will always have as a happy memory. She is with mom and dad now and I am sure that she was welcomed with open arms. Bud and the gang, her son Jackie what a wonderful place to be. Nancy was with my dad when he passed and that was a blessing to have her there for our Mother.
We love you Nancy and will always have you in our hearts and I will wait to feel your warmth one day. Your not gone, your right beside the ones you love and they will feel your warmth or a smell that reminds them of you, a small soft swish flows by there face and they will know that you are with them always. From my loving heart, Barbara Jane Hurley

Dear Janet, Timmy, Tegan and Dillon,
I am so sorry for your lose. Your grandmother/mom was a wonderful lady. I was amazed to read about all the things she did. I was happy I knew her, and enjoyed her laughter many moons ago. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Please circle your mom and give her a big hug for me, because I am unable to be there myself.
Janet I wish you love and strength during this difficult time.
My thoughts are with you.
Love,
Debi and family

I grew up next door to the Healeys and I remember Mrs. Healey as a great Mother and neighbor. She was always smiling and happy and always very kind to me. I have so many fond memories of spending time over there, especially watching a lot of Red Sox and Bruins games. And reading these other posts of how good she was at sports reminds me that she taught me how to hold a football properly by the laces, a grip I still use to this very day !!

My sincere sympathy to Nancy's family. I knew Nancy through our work at SSC, we also played volleyball together. I was the volleyball coach at SSC for many years, and Nancy officiated many of my matches. Nancy was truly a role model for female athletes, and had a lifetime passion for participating in sport, she will be missed!

" Nancy was a very dear friend and I will miss her very much. I will always remember all the volleyball games we officiated together. We rode to many of the games together for about 25 years. She was a very pretty, hardworking mother and grandmother and everyone I knew loved her." Calvin Porter

Janet, Maureen and Patrick. I remember your mom from the Star of the Sea School days. She was a lovely person who always had a warm smile. She is still with you, just in a different way. Over time the memories will bring comfort, may she rest in peace.

Nancy coached our CYO basketball team, as well as our Recreation League Team, The Red Hawks, to championships in the 1950s; we KNOW she was the best all-around athlete on the North Shore at that time. Nancy taught each of us much more than basketball skills; she guided us, through her example,to live good lives. We all loved Nancy and respected her beyond measure. I had the enviable thrill of playing with Nancy in the PAL League with the New York Model Bakerettes, and as one of the youngest players, I was in constant awe of her.
What a remarkable woman who has left an indelible imprint on all she met on her journey. The members of all of her teams wish her and her family peace and comfort in knowing just how influential her life was.
Special thoughts to David, our classmate in the class of '56.

Nancy was a delightful person who I am lucky to have gotten to know. Her smile lit up the gym and her quick wit always brought a smile to MY face. My condolences to her family.

I first met Nancy back in the early 1990's in Lynn, MA when she was a volleyball referee at the YMCA. It was the first indoor league I ever played in. Over the years we ran into each other at various volleyball tournaments. She ALWAYS had a smile on her face. God is lucky to have her in heaven. God Bless.

I have so many fond and fun memories of Nancy, both on and off the court. She made me a better player, person, and ref, and no matter when I saw her, she always had a smile on her face. We go way back to the mid 70's, and I loved her dearly. RIP my friend. My condolences to her family; she was quite the Mother/Grandmother/mentor/friend, always a lady, and there will never be another, like our dear Nancy .

For the past two years I have had injuries that have forced me to take leave. My brother Jimmy continues to take part in volleyball as an avid fan to support each team, especially his other sister Karen. Jimmy consistently has been concerned for Nancy and her health. When Nancy was well enough to come to the gym to watch a game or two; Jimmy would be insistent that he bring her a bouquet of flowers. Every week he would ask if Nancy would be at volleyball. As Jimmy is intellectually challenged, he struggles with her passing as do many who were close to Nancy. We tell Jimmy that she is now in Heaven with his aunt and this is somewhat of a comfort. The Everett Volleyball league will surely feel her absence.

Over the past twenty or so years I had the pleasure of developing a friendship with Nancy even though our time spent together was limited to Wednesday nights and volleyball banquets. I will remember her strong spirit and positive attitude during a long hard battle with cancer. Wed nights will not be the same for our league. She will always be in our thoughts.
