I had the pleasure of knowing Nancy in the mid 1980's when I worked as a Forester at the CDF Hdqtrs in San Bernardino. Nancy always had a gentle grace; always a smile and a kind cheerie greeting. One always felt a bit of a lift having spoken with her. While Nancy always worked for the Chief or other staff, she was the foundation that kept the whole office running, supporting so many of us that worked out in the field. There are no goodbyes. She had a long life and has earned a well-deserved rest. Nancy was one person whom I've always looked up to. She was a mother figure of a sort and a very classy lady. It was an honor to have known her and to have worked with her. Nancy took the time to write to me when I was deployed to Kuwait with the USMC Reserve for the Gulf War. I appreciated her getting mail from her. She was one of a handful of other co-workers who wrote.
