HILDEBRAND - RUSS FUNERAL HOME - Rhinelander Obituary

Nancy P. White

June 12, 1936 ~ July 31, 2023

Age ~ 87

Nancy P. White, 87, of Rhinelander, passed peacefully from this world on July 31 after a very sudden and brief illness. Nancy, the oldest daughter of Kenneth and Ellen Pennebaker, was born in Yosemite National Park, California which she called “the most beautiful place on earth.” She attended Bob Jones University in South Carolina where she majored in home economics, garnering skills and talents that she perfected and used to bless others until her last waking moments. Nancy met her future husband, Ken White, at BJU and they married in September 1957. The couple made their home in the Carolinas where all six of their children were born.

In August 1976, Ken was called to pastor Northwoods Baptist Church. When Nancy heard his side of the initial phone conversation, she grabbed an atlas and had him point to “Rhinelander.” Seeing the extreme northern location, she violently shook her head, “NO!” However, the family unanimously voted to move to Wisconsin, and she fell in love with the Northwoods. She especially enjoyed the changing seasons, delighting in and praising God for every wildflower, autumn leaf, and snowfall. Nancy served as an accomplished and faithful pianist and organist for the church for forty-seven years. She was a founding member of the Lake Country Food Co-Op where she was known for her decades of ceaseless dedication and hard work. Nancy will be remembered for sewing hundreds of tailor-made garments and gifts, happily working in her flourishing garden, serving thousands of homemade meals to everyone who walked through the welcoming doors of her home, and hand-washing every dish.

Nancy is survived and deeply missed by her loving husband of almost sixty-six years, Ken White, and their ninety-six descendants:

Not sure what to say?

Aunt Nancy was known for her smile and boy did she perfect that stern look! But when you took the time to really get to know her, you discovered just how fun-loving and spirited she could be. I so enjoyed the last several years of being able to spend more time with her. I will cherish those memories always! I miss you, Aunt Nancy, but know you're enjoying being with our Lord and Savior! I look forward to seeing you again one day.

The Manly Family sends much love and prayers. For all the warm memories we all spent together.Mrs. Nancys taught us all to make the best rolls and twice baked potatoes. Your home was always like being with family. Our hearts and thoughts are with you all! Looking forward to reuniting soon in glory! Love to All, Brother Jack, Annette, Paul, Starr. Cassi, Brilah, John and Christy.

I met Sister White at some Bible Conferences over the years in Texas and Wisconsin. Her quiet, gracious, and godly manner made a lasting impression. I look forward to seeing her again in a better world. My prayers are with all the family. Lean hard on the arm of the Almighty! May He who knew the loneliness of the cross come to you with His never-forsaking presence.

Whenever we went into the Co-op or met Nancy she would share her gift and a smile. The gift was her loving, caring heartfelt personality that always left me with an uplifting spirit. Be with God Nancy. Our sympathies go out to her family.

Pastor White, I'm so very sorry for your loss. Your wife was such a beautiful lady and even though I usually only saw her once a year, I always looked forward to it. Unfortunately for me, I didn't get to know her better because as I read her obituary, I was able to see how truly amazing she was. My sincerest condolences to you and your entire family.

To say that I will miss Grandma is an understatement. When I spoke to her last week she couldn't help but praise her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, as she spoke of her life and her family. She has provided for me and her posterity a godly example in finishing well. I am thankful for the godly influence of her and my grandfather in my life.

Dear Family, we mourn with you on this sidebut I know she would want us all to rejoice with her by faith, as we lean and long to be where she is; with our dear Lord and Savior Jesus!!

Dear White & Mathews Families,
Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. Our world has been so blessed with this amazing generation. Another beautiful guardian angel for your families.
Our condolences,
Dan & Sue Wadzinski

Dear Brother Ken & Family,

We are praying for all of you.
