Nancy Lomax Yates passed peacefully freed of pain Monday, March 25, 2013 at Hospice of Union County surrounded by her family who she laughed with, lived for and loved. She was born in Charlotte, NC, the daughter of the late Rowland and Nancy Lomax of Monroe on January 8, 1962. Nancy graduated from the CPCC Dental Assisting program in 1981 and worked as an orthodontist assistant in the Charlotte area. Nancy is survived by her husband of 32 years, Dan Yates, Jr., her children and their spouses, Zach Yates and wife Ashley, Lauren Wenger and husband Greg and C. Landen Yates of the home. A sister, Cindy Trask and husband Kim of Swannanoa, NC, three grandchildren, who were the love of her life, Gregory and Taylor Wenger and Tinley R. Yates. Her 3 faithful little lap dogs, Hoot n Annie and Hank. Nancy will be missed by all, but her art and artistic ability will be cherished by those who she loved.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Nancy will be held Friday, March 29, 2013 at 7:00 pm in the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112 with visitation to follow. Private inurnment will follow at a later date at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, Weddington, NC. The family would like to express their appreciation for the kind care for Nancy, to Presbyterian Hospital, Matthews and the staff of Hospice of Union County. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s memory to Union County Hospice, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110 or Union County Humane Society, P. O. Box 101, Monroe, NC 28111. Thanks to every one who took the time to reflect on "Nancy Rays" life here on this earth. She was a talented woman who loved life and will be greatly missed by me and my family.
