Not sure what to say?

Professor Kampen allowed me to audit her Roman Art and Architecture course at Barnard. I enjoyed every minute of it! She brought the period to life and gave us a deep understanding of the culture, art and history of the period. She was a gracious and wonderful scholar and will be terribly missed.

Talie was a kind and brilliant person. She will be missed by all those who knew her, as well as by all those who treasure learning and understanding.

Tally was, and always will be in my memory, a vibrant, intelligent, warm, and funny woman. I met her when I lived in Rhode Island, and happily spent time with her in Rome many, many years ago. I told her she was a great 125 Lira machine as all I needed to do was ask her to face any building of interest and tell me all its history. Dear Tally,
how fortunate I was to be your friend.

Words can never express what a wonderful sister Tally was. She was my friend from the day I arrived home from the hospital, and we shared innumerable splendid experiences, from eating sandwiches at Dot's Diner in Wilmington Vermont on our annual trips to the Marlboro Chamber Music Festival to eating sandwiches in the sunlight on the steps of a Roman amphiteater in Tunisia. Thank you for everything, dearest Tally.

Tally chaired the Women's Studies department when I was a student at Barnard (and majoring in Women's Studies). Down-to-earth, smart, funny, and compassionate, she showed me how to live an engaged, feminist life.

She was my advisor at Barnard, my art history professor and wrote my grad school letter of recommendation. Even over 10 years later, I still vividly remember how excited she was as she described being allowed to touch a marble statue of Augustus and, to this day, I know the difference between Roman columns because of her trick. Her unbridled excitement for learning undoubtedly inspired generations of scholars. Her passing is a true loss for Barnard and women around the world. She will be...

Tally was my mentor, my dissertation director, and my friend. In her generous but tough way, she taught me how to argue on paper and disciplined my thinking. I would not have been able to achieve what I have achieved without her. Thank you dearest Tally. You can ride the stars now.

Although I met and knew Tally on a business level for a brief period,I found her warm, friendly and kind.It is with great sadness to hear of her passing. She made a profound difference in the world, and she will be missed by many.

Tally was our dear next door neighbor and friend- we miss her. Our deepest condolences to her family and many friends.
