Natalie Ann Punchard Panetti Margiotta of Ashburn, VA, formerly of Arlington, VA died peacefully July 6, 2025, following a period of declining health. She was 84. Natalie was born in Newark, New Jersey on August 29, 1940, a daughter of the late Rector and Vivian (Haight) Punchard. She thoroughly enjoyed working at "The Washington Post" where started in 1968 in Employee Relations, and she helped keep the paper running during strikes in 1973 and 1974. Throughout her long tenure at The Post, she grew close to Katharine and Don Graham, whose family owned the newspaper from 1933-2013. Natalie enjoyed her role as Personnel Manager from 1996-2001. She loved to eat lunch outside in nice weather with friends and family, and she enjoyed swing dancing. She loved organizing shore parties for the annual Hospice Cup Regatta on the Chesapeake Bay. Natalie was married to Richard Panetti until his death in August 1995. They enjoyed living in Arlington, VA and Boca Raton, Florida. Her second marriage to Dr. Franklin D. Margiotta (2001-2016) was full of fun and travel. Natalie was an active member of the Ashby Ponds Resident Advisory Council where she enjoyed planning events. Her niece Cheryl Kist Looper remembers her as "a glamorous, funny, bright, Washingtonian. She was so active, lively, and full of spirit and life! She was a writer and had a great sense of taste." Natalie is survived by her sister-in-law Karen (Swift) Punchard, her nephews Darrin Punchard (Jessica), Christian Wragge (Pat), and nieces Paige Dalto (Chris), Pam Holyk (Peter), Cheryl Kist Looper (Dan), Susan Ryder (Michael McHenry), Gloria DeLisa (Ralph), and her grand nieces and nephews, Alyssa and Matthew Dalto, and Kathryn and Samantha Punchard, and the families of several nieces and nephews. Natalie will also be missed by stepchildren Franklin W. Margiotta (Jennifer) and Maggie Margiotta Melson (Vollie) and her step grandchildren Tony and Nico Margiotta. Natalie was also the sister of the late William Kist, Audrey Wragge, and Jacqueline Smith. Family and friends will honor and remember Natalie's life by gathering for a celebration of life on Monday, November 24, 2025, at noon at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road, NE, Leesburg, VA 20176. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake Foundation, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122.
