Offering our sincerest sympathies to Nate's family. My name is Donna, my father is Doug Smith, Nate's former landlord here in Rocky Mount, NC. We came to know Nate as he was living in my dad's backyard. He always had a smile & made fast friends with my daughter who was about 2 or 3 at the time, even attending one of her birthday parties. We still have the little coin "bank" he gave her. We are so sad to hear of his passing, and hope that his daughter & the rest of his family will find comfort...

Thinking of you and your family and friends at this time. Remembering the wonderful memories of life Nathan had everywhere he went. His daughter Carly will carry on his love, laughter and caring spirit and we will all carry on his memories in our hearts forever. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Nathan and I worked on the same team at Forest Park P.D. for a time. He was a likeable sort of guy and would do anything to help a friend and I know without doubt that he was very proud of Carly. I didn't see much of him after I retired and then I hear the news of his passing. So tragic. Taken home way too soon. Lt ( Retired) Roland Morgan

Nathan was first and foremost a great father to sweet Carly aka "Pooter" who he talked about all the time. My husband was a coworker of his at FPPD. He was a genuinely kind and faithful friend and we will miss him dearly. RIP friend til we meet again
