Nathan L. Whidden, 66, of Bessemer City passed away on March 7, 2022 at Testa Family Hospice House in Kings Mountain.  He was born on October 7, 1955 to the late Reid and Edith Tipton Whidden.  He is also preceded in death by his son, David Franklin and great grandson, Kaydon Brooks.  Nathan was the former owner of Alamo Gun & Tack Shop in Bessemer City and also owned an auto paint and body shop.  He was an expert in guns and ammo.  He retired after 35 plus years from Wix Filters. He enjoyed deep sea fishing but he also enjoyed being at home tinkering around the house.  Nathan was an inventative person and loved to make things, especially gas powered model airplanes and he enjoyed gardening herbs.  He was quick witted, funny and strong-willed.  He was creative, incredibly intelligent, and talented.  His love for others was genuine and his advice was always honest and blunt. Nathan was respected and loved by his family who look forward to the eternal reunion when they meet him again.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Carol Millwood and husband Chad, Jennifer Buchanan, and Lisa Whidden; sister, Cynthia Ruff; 10 grandchildren, Sheldon, Brittany, Jacob, Kasey, Ashley, Dalton, Johnathan, Joseph, Lainee, and Gaige; and 14 great grandchildren.

The receiving of friends and family will be held Sunday, March 13, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial of Life Celebration at 2:00 p.m. at New Faith Baptist Church, 1224 Mayberry Rd., Stanley, NC 28034.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Testa Family Hospice House, 321 Kings Mountain Blvd., Kings Mountain, NC 28086.
