Nate- I can't believe it's been 15 years since you've been gone. Seems like an eternity and also, just yesterday. Your loss changed a lot of lives. I think of you often and wonder how our life together would have been had you stayed. You will always have a piece of my heart. I know your boys (who are now men) miss you. RIP my angel.

Nathan- I wish that no one would have to be writing in this book, but there is comfort in knowing you are at peace now. I will carry fond memories of you always, especially the laughter and friendship we shared. I want you to know that you are a wonderful person and everyone knows how much you loved your boys. Your family and friends have a great guardian angel watching over them. Till our paths cross again...

Nathan,
I am so sorry that you had to leave us and all of your friends. We all miss you so much. I know it's not your fault. You used to do special things with me and make me laugh and let me spend time with you, Nathaniel and Trevor on the weekends. If only I could see you one last time and tell you how much we all love you and that I wish the best for you.

Your Friend,
Alex

Dear Daddy,

I miss you. I can't play video games with you anymore. I can't play baseball, basketball, and football with you anymore. I wish I could kiss you and hug you one more time. You made me laugh and sometimes I made you laugh, too. I wonder what it will be like without you, Daddy. I will always forgive you for your illness. It's not your fault. I pray for you every night. I can't wait to see in Heaven someday.

Love,
Trevor- your youngest

I wasn't ready to say good-bye to my partner and friend. I am so sad for those you left behind, but so thankful for the time we had with you while you were here. Words cannot express how special you are to us. We will hold our memories of you close to our hearts. Your sons adored you and will forever miss their daddy. They were so proud of you and all that you had accomplished. Through them, your spirit will live on. Thank you for being the best father you could be. I will be here to pick up the pieces and try to mend their broken hearts. I take comfort in knowing you are finally at peace. In time, we will find peace, too.

Nate - there is so much love for you and your boys right now - rest assured there are a lot of prayers being said for Nathaniel and Trevor, even from those of us who did not know them. Don't worry Nate - those who love you understand. You're legacy will live on through your boys.

Nathan - to my best friend ... we've been through a great deal together, through thick and thin. I am going to miss you so very much, words cannot even express. I am deeply saddened by your passing. I'm going to miss our shopping excursions, our long talks - you were truly the one person I could share anything with. I'm going to miss your infectious laugh and smile. For those that are reading this, what I ask of you is to focus on ... what a wonderful human being Nathan was - his caring and generous nature, always so willing to help those in need. His laughter and smile as it lit up the room. His sensitivity - I always joked with Nathan that he was every woman's dream of a best friend - manly on the outside, but extremely sensitive and caring on the inside :) While he didn't always take too kindly being called a "girl", deep down he loved it :) His devotion to his boys, Nathaniel and Trevor - he was such a loving and dedicated father to his boys. He loved them with all of his heart and soul!

Please remember Nathan for the loving, caring and genuine person that he was - one that I will deeply miss for all eternity. You will forever be on my mind and in my heart ... Love, Jen

I first met Nate in 1999 when I joined Scottsdale Insurance Co. I remember asking one of my co-managers, just who is this guy, this social butterfly who spends more time at other peoples' desks than his own? I later learned that he was helping those people, as he would help me many times after that.

Nate and I became close friends during our three year tenure on a company project. We were in such close and frequent contact that my wife, Beverley, handed me the phone one day and said, "It's your stepson." Nate, Bev and I got a good laugh out of that and, ever since, we referred to each other as "stepson" and "dad".

Bev and I both loved Nate. He was a son to us and he will always remain in our hearts.

Nate,
You are a wonderful, caring, kind man. You always had such a great and addictive smile. When I close my eyes I can hear your laugh and see your smile. The last time we spoke I told you that you were the father of everyone womens dreams and I meant it with all of my heart. You will be missed more than you could ever know.

Nathaniel and Trever,
Your dad loved you soooo very much and were his life!!! Always remember how much he loved the both of you.

Melany, Brenda and Janae,
My heart goes out to you. You have lost such a wonderful person but know matter what he will always be in your hearts and mind.

May 27, 2007

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Wow! I am very stunned that the results of a simple name search led me to discover the untimely demise of my nephew Nathan Holmeyer.I have not seen him since we were kids years ago,and I did not know him very well because we lived in two different states. It pains me to know that another blood relation has passed away.I am reminded of the time when I was at the Blockbuster Video Store at 35th avenue & Glendale, and the clerk asked me if I was Nathan Holmeyer because I was getting a new card.I told the clerk no,that is my nephew's name.Every thing happens for a reason, and it is no coincedence that I found my way here tonight to sign the guestbook.Nathan,You will be sorely missed by many people, and the world will be a dimmer place due to your absence.

Nathan my love,
I miss you and love you so very much. Every moment with you was a dream come true. You were loved by many and touched all with whom you came into contact with. I will always carry you in my heart and in my soul and though I am very sad you are gone, our time together has been the happiest time of my life and I thank you for that. I know you are at peace in God's hands and I will ever await our time together again.
Nate, Trevor, Brenda - you have my number and I love you all very much. We have suffered a great loss but we must carry on, he would want it that way~

I would like to extend my deepest, heart-felt sympathies to Nathan's sons, his immediate family, loved ones and all the people whose lives Nathan has touched. Nathan and I enjoyed ribbing each other. I'll miss his wisecracks, followed by that devilish grin and contagious laugh. Nathan was the type of friend that I might not see for awhile; but we picked up right where we left off, as if no time had passed...I'll miss my friend and I am honored to have been his. I didn't get to see Nathan before he left us, but I know when I see him again, we'll pick up, right where we left off. May God bless you and keep you Nathan; you were a very loved and special man.

When I think of Nathan I see that big smile and the twinkle he had in his eyes. He was a kind spirit that touched so many and leaves us all with an empty place in our hearts and lives. Nathan's friends, family and SIC will not be the same without him, but we were blessed to at least have him in part of our life’s journey. I’ll miss you Nate…

The things we admire in men:
kindness and generosity, openness,
honesty, understanding and feeling,
are the concomitants of failure in our system.

And the traits we detest,
sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness,
meanness, egotism, and self interest,
are the signs of success.

Nathan, you represent all that was good, all that kept us going while the machine held us down. We will not forget you and all you added to our lives.

May 17, 2007

There is no doubt that Nathan was something special. I will miss his passion, his energy and most of all I will miss his kind and encouraging words.
Nathan, I will miss you deeply and hope you have found the peace that you needed.

Nathaniel and Nate: The world has lost a wonderful loving man! To Nathan's Mother: You should be very proud that you raised a Son that meant so much to so many! He was the most respectful, loving and caring person! Always had a smile, good word, and it showed that his boys were the light of his life! When he asked, "how it was going", you could tell that he sincerely wanted to know. His visit always brightened the day! May the Lord Bless and keep him and you all in his care.

Family and Friends of Nathan:

I started working at Scottsdale Insurance 5 years ago and Nathan was the first real friend I made. We had a lot in common and enjoyed each others company, got into some trouble together and built a very strong friendship! I have had the great oportunity to spend time with Nathan and is sons, mostly Nathanial. I have had a chance to see how much Nathan loved the boys, his smile was even bigger than usual when he was with them! I have lost a dear friend and wish I could bring him back, but I can't... However, evertime I see the boys, I will see Nathan and know he is still here in someway and smiling! I am proud to say I am his friend and he will always be in my heart!

Nathan was a wonderful friend and co-worker. I will miss his bright smile, his great attitude and his brilliant mind. He would always drop whatever he was doing to help me & he always fixed the problem. It's silly but I thought it was just for me! - but as it turns out, he was delightful and helpful to all of us.
My last conversation with him just a few weeks ago was about his beautiful boys and how proud he was of them. Please know that Nathan was very loved and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Nathaniel and Trevor,

I've known your father for almost his entire career at Scottsdale Insurance. Nathan was the "go to" guy for everything that he worked on and was loved by all. Know that he spoke of you constantly and was bursting with love for both of you. Nathan was the kind of person that made me and others look forward to coming to work every day knowing that we had the honor and pleasure of working with him. His absence leaves a hole in our lives. He will be forever missed.

He will be missed, I will cherish the brief time that we had known each other.

You are in our prayers. My deepest condolences are with you Nathaniel & Trevor and to all of his family as you grieve.

Holmeyer Family,

I met Nathan when he first began his career at Scottsdale Ins. He was young, energetic, enthusiastic and determined about his life and his work. Nathan and I both pursued our careers into claims, our paths crossed occasionally and what I remember most was he always spoke of his sons, both of whom he was very proud.

Nathaniel and Trevor remember the happy times with your Dad and know that he loved you with all his heart.

My thoughts and prayers are with Nathan's family and loved ones at this very difficult time. Nathan will live within the memories and hearts of those who know and love him. May those precious memories and Nathan's love for each of you bring you a measure of comfort.

Just wanted you to know what a great guy your son/dad was - smart, funny, good-lookin'(his words!), and truly genuine. There are no words to convey the sorrow I and many others feel with him gone. I'll never forget him or the impact he had on my life. Please know he so loved his family, especially his boys, Nathanial and Trevor, as he spoke of you often.
I'm here for you if you ever need me!

Love,

Nate Dog,

you will be sorely missed, bro.

Even though your time here was short, you impacted many many people's lives, including mine. You and I had some good times together and I will always remember and cherish them. Although we may never know why you left us so early, we will never forget your self-less contributions and generosity.

I will miss the way your eyes would dance everytime you mentioned Nathaniel and Trevor. Words cannot express the Love and Joy Nathan held in his heart for his kids. He was a true friend, one that made me laugh and who laughed with me. Until our paths cross again, rest peacefully.

Our death is not an end if we can live on in our children. For they are us, our bodies are only wilted leaves on the tree of life. ~Albert Einstein

Rest now Nathan. You were a good man and you did well.

I was introduced to Nathan a few years ago and I always remembered him as a very friendly, out-going individual. Definitely stood out in the SIC crowd. I always enjoyed greeting him while walking around the office or in the elevator. I will miss his smiling face. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Nathaniel and Trevor,

Your dad was pretty cool. Not once did he walk by me without a big old smile, a pat on the shoulder and a "what's up man?". I'll certainly miss him.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

Nathaniel and Trevor:

I am deeply saddened by the loss of your father. Nate was a great father, friend, co-worker. You should know that he was quite proud of you and loved you both dearly.

I spent alot of time with Nate over the years and he became a really good friend and will be sorely missed.

Mrs. Holmeyer & Melaney: I have had the great fortune to be a friend of Nate's for the past 10 years at Scottsdale Insurance Company. I always enjoyed our time together, whether it was in the office, on the phone or on the several business trips that we took together. I thought the world of Nate and will miss him dearly. May he be at peace and his family have the strength to get through this difficult time.

If there is anything I can do, please don't hesitate to contact me.
