My cousin Colver was a fine officer and a self-effacing gentleman. His father (USNA'21, USMC infantry) and my father (USNA'35, USMC aviator) only overlapped on tours of duty once (in Washington), and with Colver being far older than me, we had little interaction over the years. I would hear of his achievements via his mother, my aunt, or my mother, the two younger deSaussure sisters from Charleston.
