I was always proud of my uncle and his military career. He served his county well - in a manner that was dignified - and made friends where he was sent, earning the respect of the Koreans and others who worked with him. I hope to follow his example. RIP, Uncle Colver.

My cousin Colver was a fine officer and a self-effacing gentleman. His father (USNA'21, USMC infantry) and my father (USNA'35, USMC aviator) only overlapped on tours of duty once (in Washington), and with Colver being far older than me, we had little interaction over the years. I would hear of his achievements via his mother, my aunt, or my mother, the two younger deSaussure sisters from Charleston. With his passing there has been a disruption in The Force and the World has been saddened. ...
