On Dec. 12, 2020 Nathaniel Newell Lewis lost his life in a tragic incident. He was loved by his family and many friends. He was only 19 years old. He is survived by his parents; Mother Jessica Barton, his paternal father Gordon Lewis, and his step-father Scott Barton. His siblings include, brother Dustin Maberry, and sister, Joanna Key, and Stepsisters, Harley and Madison Barton. His maternal grandparents include, Grandfather- Donnie Maberry, Grandmother, Lisa Hansard, and her husband, James. His Paternal grandparents include, Linda and Loy Pugh, and Great Grandmother , Faye Fox. Aunts and Uncles include, Aunt- Jacklyn York, Uncle- Brandon York and his wife Montana, Two cousins Braiden York and Layla York, Nephew Cooper Key. Also his great aunt and uncle Brent and Nicole Hale, 2nd cousin Julie Hale, and Great Uncle and Aunt, Jack and Lori Windal.
Nathan was born on September 6, 2001. He had an immediate ability to capture people’s hearts and attention. He was a straight A student in his Elementary years and often achieved “Commended” scores on school testing. Nathan played sports such as soccer, baseball, and football in his younger years. He was a bright individual, and he excelled in activities he pursued whole heartedly. He held a passion for sports, his family, and in later years, music. He accepted Christ at the age of 6 and attended church at Overcoming Word Praise Center International. Nathan had begun practicing his faith on a more personal level. Those close to him heard of his conversations with God, where he sought guidance and comfort. He was a loyal friend and passionate about his convictions. He enjoyed making others laugh and spending time with his close friends. He was admired by his younger cousins, and he loved holding and playing with his new nephew. He was a graduate of Rider High School, Class of 2020, and later attended the Career Education Center for Auto body. He had recently begun a position with Priddy Electric, whom say he was a “great kid and hard worker.” Nathan’s hobbies were writing music and restoring his car.
Nathan had a high school sweetheart of three years, Holly Lynn Allison. They have been blessed with a baby boy on the way. Nathan eagerly looked forward to being a father, and close friends have commented on Nathan’s recent discussions with them on parenting advice. Nathan has touched the lives of many whom have reached out and expressed their love for him. His life work and memory live on despite tragedy. It has provided great comfort in their time of grieving.
The family will receive friends between 3 and 5 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday December 21, 2020 at the Overcoming Word Praise Center on Airport Dr. with Pastor Mark Graham, officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.
