It is with sad hearts that the family of Nathaniel Watkins announce his passing on Thursday, April 11, 2024.  Nathaniel Watkins was one of six children born to the late Rosel Watkins, Sr. and Carrie Watkins.  Nathaniel, affectionately called Nay or Big Blue, graduated from Fairfield Industrial High School Class of 1969 and then UAB. 

After a long career in the telecommunications field, he retired from AT&T.  Nathaniel accepted Christ early in his life and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. 

Nathaniel is preceded in death by both his mother and father as well as his sisters and brother, Patricia Cunningham, Pearline Watkins, and Rosel Watkins Jr. 

He leaves two sisters, Bettye Ann Watkins and Linda Jo Watkins; a nephew, and a host of nieces and other extended family.  He also leaves to cherish his memory a special friend Gloria Norris. Nathaniel will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Smith and Gaston Funeral Home.  The funeral services will be held Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 11:00a.m. at Woodland Park Church of Christ.  1800 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., Birmingham, Alabama 35211.
