The Path of Righteousness
In the garden was an apple tree, and they were forbidden to eat of the fruit of that tree.

Nathaniel Webb and his cousins picked his grandfather's still-green apples anyway.

When the old man saw that the apples were missing he demanded to know who had disobeyed him. "We didn't tell the truth," said Delores Matthews, Mr. Webb's cousin. "But when he was cornered, Nathaniel always got teary-eyed and told the truth. Then we all got punished, but he never did."

From that almost biblical beginning, Mr. Webb remained on the side of authority for the rest of his life. He was a Port Authority police officer for 28 years and, said Mrs. Matthews, "he was always trying to keep everyone else on the straight and narrow."

His friends and colleagues knew Officer Webb as a righteous and generous man. He took care of his housebound mother, stopping in several times a week to spend time with her. Sometimes, when a few officers went out for drinks or dinner after work, he would pick up the tab.

Officer Sharon Feoktistov, who worked with Officer Webb at the Holland Tunnel, said that once when she was stuck in Brooklyn with a flat tire, he drove from his home in Jersey City just to sit with her and wait for the tow truck. "And the thing was," she said, "I didn't even have to ask."

Not sure what to say?

Today is the 22nd year anniversary of the terrorist attack that took Nathaniel Webb from his loved ones. At a Silent Walk in remembrance of this tragic day, I was given a tag with this name and a request to pray and walk for him. I am thrilled to find I have the privilege of praying for a heroic policeman from the Port Authority. May you rest in peace Nathaniel Webb.

I was in New York for business and was fortunate to be walking by the memorial. After taking it all in, I looked down and there was Nathaniel Webb's name. Of all the places I could have stopped, this is where The Lord led me. God bless you and your family. I am proud to share your name.

As I had not the opportunity to keep in touch with this side of the family, I was humbled to hear about being related to a godly man. Not a day goes by that this tragic day is not embedded in our hearts and minds. I am very honored to carry the Webb name and especially honored to know we had a hero in our family. God bless you and all others who selflessly gave their lives for our freedom.

Today is the 10 year anniversary of the terrorist attack that took Nathaniel Webb from his loved ones. At our church service today I was given a flag with this name and a request to pray for him. I hoped to learn a bit about Nathaniel and am thrilled to find I have the privilege of praying for a heroic policeman from the Port Authority. As I read the wonderful tributes written by his family and friends I feel honored to pray for this fine, brave man. May you rest in peace Nathaniel Webb.

Like someone before me, I saw your name on the TV screen when I looked up as the movie "World Trade Center" ended. You are a true American hero. From the ashes may your spirit rise, protect and inspire.
