Not sure what to say?

I've been so saddened in learning of the loss of Neil. He is intertwined with many of my childhood and teenage memories growing up in Lander Wyoming. His mom, taught me piano for years, and I remember Neil coming down the stairs just as I was finishing my lesson to say "hey". At my first LDS stake youth dance, he asked me to dance to John Cougar Mellencamp's "Jack and Diane". That memory still pops into my head whenever I hear that song on the radio. We both served in the Italy Padova...

Saddened to learn of Neil's passing. May the Lord wrap His arms around all of you and help you find comfort in joy-filled memories.
Annette Barnum,
a former Landerite friend of the family

Great guy, Neil was. He will be missed deeply.

Ashdown Family and Friends,
I pray that you receive peace and comfort during this most difficult time. Neil was a great blessing in my life. I had the honor of working with him during our service in the Huntsman administration and I am grateful for a friendship that continued well beyond. Neil has many qualities but his example of guileless and humble service will endure with me most prominently . It is particularly unique to find these qualities in the political arena and Neil made...

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Bless your fondest memories of Neil and keep them close to your heart. Kim and Bob Hood

I feel at bit shaken at the death of someone so young and so accomplished. I remember taking first-year French with Neil who with his friend Jason Atwood were the super-cool kids in the class. When it came time to pick our French names, they picked Yves and Xavier, which were not quite, but almost entirely unlike their actual names and by 1986 standards, two of the least cool names on the list. To this day when I meet an Yves or an Xavier, I think about the two of them and how they made the...

Oh my, I have fond memories of this exceptional young man in his early years in Lander, WY. Neal was so much a part of my sons' athletic years and I watched him grow up. It no surprise to me that he lived a life of service and his joy was in his family. The world has lost a good soul. I'm sad at his passing.

My thoughts are with all of the family at this difficult time of loss.

Neil:

I first met you in 2000 or 2001. We met on the U of U Young Alumni Board. Indeed, I was the one who told you that you were on the board. After that, we became friends, and our kids both attended RHSM together in the early years. Later, our families got close, and you helped my ex-spouse get a job for the Gov., which led to her becoming a judge. We continued to be friends, and were both on the Utah Board of Visitors together, with you as Chair and then me as Chair. We visited...
