Dear Mrs. Carter,

I was touched to hear about your husband's death. I hope it was not a prolonged state of affairs. I know it takes some time to get through the grieving period. I wish you a very short grieving time. We all miss our loved ones once they are no longer there. Being married now, I can't imagine being without my mate. No matter what -- they are parts of our lives that can't easily be replaced.
