Neil Corkery

My deepest condolences to Mr. Corkery's family. I always remember taking a math placement test before I started as a student at Nathanael Greene, and Mr. Corkery explaining the < symbols that I had mixed up. He seemed to remember every student's name in the hallways, making students feel welcome and seen, for good or bad behavior! Thank you for sharing more about his work and life outside of Greene. He was clearly a motivational leader, even to 12 & 13 year olds!

Neil was one of my heroes. I met him when he was principal of Nathanael Greene Middle School and I was just starting my job as Director of RISAS almost 40 years ago. Over the years, his encouragement, support and advocacy played a critical role in the expansion of school-based substance use prevention programs in RI.
