Not sure what to say?

When I was deeply discouraged one winter afternoon and sitting quietly in my classroom after school contemplating leaving teaching for something I could do better, Neil stopped by unexpectedly (how did he know?) He sat with me and asked me to share my thoughts (How did he know?) Finally, he patted me on the shoulder and said, "You know, the kids like you and they like coming to your class; that's most of the battle. We need you... and so do the kids." That was the real beginning of my career...

What a great guy.....rest in peace Neil.

TL Handy Class of 1976

My mother always talked about a wonderful teacher at Handy, Mr. Ringle. I knew him from the Friends of the Library board. Kind, gentle, always smiling. A dear man indeed. It was a blessing to know him.

I last visited with Neil in the fall of 2010 at his home shortly after the death of both of my parents (Florence and Jerry Newcombe) to let hom knew that they had passed away. I knew Neil as a student (class of 1959) and through the choir of First United Methodist Church. Neil was one of the good guys and one of the best teachers I had in both French and English. I have fond vivid memories of his class and his humor. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Margo Newcombe Mcginnis

Mr. Ringle!! One of my favorite teachers...right up there with Mr. White and Ron "Huggy Bear" Hughes!! I remember when he retired and I stopped by to say goodbye and gave him a little gift and he sent me away with tears in his eyes. Most people rejoice when they retire, not Mr. Ringle, he left with a heavy heart ... leaving behind all his "friends." To this day, I still tell the story about how he used to get the students' attention when we were not listening to him ...he did it very...

I found with the death of my father-that the only thing he could take with him was his name. When people who knew him see his tombstone they will say that he was a man of honor. You have no idea of all the students that he was an example for.

Not only was Neil a gifted teacher and friend, but he inspired us to want to learn more and do our very best. His subtle sense of humor was just delightful. We were blessed to have had him for a teacher (class of '52)and I was blessed to also have him as a neighbor and friend. My condolences to his family. We will miss him but rejoice that he has received his crown in heaven!

Having graduated from Handy High School I knew Mr. Ringle as a wonderful teacher. I also had the pleasure of having him as neighbor across the street. A gentleman always.
Our prayers are with the Ringle Family.

I have 18 years of formal education, but only one real teacher/professor. My daughter and I each had Neil for honers English. We are part of his legacy and so proud of that. God Bless Neil, rest in peace, enjoy your place at the Lord's table.
