Nickelson-Cummings Funeral Home - Hampton Obituary

Nekaybaw Royal Scott was born on August 21, 1996, in Newport News, to Nikitia Royal Davis and Dwayne Scott, and was raised by her step-father Anthony Davis.  She passed away at the age of 26, on February 7, 2023, in Newport News, Virginia. Nekaybaw always seemed to find a way to make those around her howl with laughter, throughout her life.  As a child she was known as the child with the cutest dimples and the biggest smile.  She had a knack for making people laugh.  Nekaybaw offered to the world her unconditional love.  She smiled throughout her life, bringing joy and happiness to her family and everyone she touched.  Nekaybaw loved kids and was devoted to her beloved Pit Bull, Bear.  She loved life to the fullest.  To have met her was to love her.  She was a firecracker and the life of a party. Nekaybaw attended Whiddon Rogers Education Center, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and graduated on June 3, 2015.  After graduation, Nekaybaw relocated to Virginia and studied at Virginia Peninsula Community College (formerly TNCC).  She attended First Baptist Church Morrison where she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized November 3, 2016. Throughout her adult life, Nekaybaw loved to skate, listen to music, dance, and work on electronics.  Nekaybaw taught her Nana and FaFa how to use their Apple IPhones by giving them classes.  Nekaybaw was a handywoman when it came to her car, she could change a flat tire or change the oil.  She would then call FaFa to help her change the spark plugs.  If anyone needed anything she would go beyond her duty to help. She worked for the Department of Social Services in Hampton, VA where she excelled as an office assistant.  She loved being a part of the team and treasured the working relationships with her co-workers.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Amber Toombs; great-grandmothers Frances Royal and Enomie Tibbs; and uncle, John Ashley Tibbs. She leaves to cherish her memories; mother, Nikitia Royal Davis; father, Dwayne Scott and step-father, Anthony Davis; five brothers, Anthony A. Davis, Deshavion Tucker, Jarrett O'Connell, Anthony Scott, and Josiah Scott; one sister, Alisia June; grandparents, Garnell and Pinky Melvin (FaFa and Nana), Ernestine Scott, and Larry Tibbs (Barbara); two aunts, Jennifer Howard (Bryant) and Jasmine Scott; special cousins, Takira, Nyasia, Tay, Nadia, Little Bryant; best friends, Essence and Kimesia; and a host of family and friends.

Pinky,Garnell,Nikita and rest of your family. I’m so sorry for your loss . Nekaybaw was always smiling and so sweet whenever I saw her at holiday gatherings. I’ve missed the last two, but from previous gatherings she was always smiling and never met a stranger. I would always ask her “which one are you “ cause I would get her and Kita mixed up:-). Beautiful soul gone too soon. Continued prayers of strength and comfort to you all. Love you all❤❤❤
