Nelda Morath Schreiber, 70, of Wichita Falls, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024.

A Rosary and Vigil service will be 6:00 p.m. followed by a visitation until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.  The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2024 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Kyle Walterscheid, celebrant and Deacon Jim Bindel, con-celebrant.  Rite of Committal will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery in Windthorst under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.

Nelda was born on December 1, 1953 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Robert and Therese (Veitenheimer) Morath.  She attended school at Academy of Mary Immaculate and graduated from Notre Dame High School in Wichita Falls in 1972.  Nelda received a degree in pharmaceutical studies and began her career at Trott’s Drug Store and served customers faithfully for over 37 years, knowing each one by their first name.  Due to Parkinson’s Disease and a bout with cancer, Nelda was forced to retire at an early age in 2012.  She and David (Aggie) Schreiber were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on October 26, 1974.  She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Wichita Falls.

Nelda loved arts, crafts and painting.  She loved her family, her church, people, Christmas and Christmas trees.  She was a very generous lady, always giving gifts to anyone that would accept them.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Charlie Morath; and her brother-in-law, Jerry Anderle.

She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, David Schreiber; her brothers, Ron and wife Richalene Morath, Daniel and wife Teresa Morath, and Michael and wife Khristi Morath; her sisters, Patti and husband Michael Sosebee, Susan and husband Tim Cummings, Marsha Anderle, and Mary and husband Gary Wolf; and numerous nieces, nephews and Godchildren who will miss her tremendously.

The family requests that memorial donations be made in honor of Nelda to the George Beaman Scholarship Fund or to the Ray Schreiber Scholarship both at P.O. Box 190, Windthorst, TX 76389; or to Brayden’s Gift, P.O. Box 51182, Amarillo, TX 79159.

Not sure what to say?

Nelda was such a fine lady. She walked past Notre Dame Elementary a lot and she was always so kind. Her warm smile made me and everyone else feed loved. Rest in peace, my friend.

Nelda was like family. I have such fond memories of all the years working with her behind the prescription counter and the fun we all had at the store Christmas parties. She was always so kind and thoughtful of others despite her own health issues. My heart goes out to you David, Susan, and the entire Morath family. May she rest in peace.

I worked with Nelda for over 20 years at Trott’s. She cared about our customers, service was first and foremost. She was a thoughtful and giving person. I treasure having the opportunity to get to know Nelda and work with her. She will be missed by a lot of people, especially by me. RIP Nelda.

I was so sorry to hear of Nelda's passing. I met her through Kristi & Margie Baumhardt and got to know her when I volunteered at Hospice, and she would bring baked goods and flowers out for the nurses. My prayers go out to all her family and to the many friends who loved her. RIP sweet lady. You may be gone but will be remembered by many.
