Nelson Gonzalez, 62, departed this life on Thursday, January 21, 2021. He was born October 6, 1958 in Lorain, Ohio, to loving parents, Juanita “Nin” (nee Lopez) and José Mariano González, Sr. Nelson graduated from Southview High School and lived in Lorain all his life.
Nelson had a special love for his family and friends. He liked to fish, play darts, and was an avid fan of all Cleveland sports teams. Nelson, having great skill in pool, was captain of the Scorchers’s Shooters, a Division B Eight Ball team representing Lorain County in the Ohio Vending League Systems.
Nelson is survived by his mother, Juanita González of Lorain; ; brothers José (Ché) Gonzalez of Oberlin, Edwin (Rose) Gonzalez, Harold (Chelly) Gonzalez of Lorain and Franklin (Terrie) Gonzalez of Brunswick, "son" Joe Casner (Ersula Burns) and "grandson" Nathan Casner both of Lorain. His memory will also be cherished by a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Nelson was preceded in death by his father, José Mariano Gonzalez and brothers David and William Gonzalez.
His family will receive friends Wednesday, February 3 from 8:30 until 9:30 AM funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev Father William A. Thaden, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
The family suggests contributions to the Sacred Heart Memorial Fund, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44055.
