Not sure what to say?

My uncle Nelson was the first person ever to write me a letter back when I was 7 years old. Imagine the excitement of getting a letter in the mail! We corresponded ever since then and I still have every letter. We talked about our daily lives, cooking and later about hiking which I started later in life. When I visited years ago he asked if I wanted to get up early and walk in County Farm Park. By early I thought he meant 7:30 or so. We got up at 5! It was a wonderful morning. Very sad I...

Bob and I were so fortunate to know Nelson. He was alway the voice of reason. I loved to talk to him about his growing up on the east side of Detroit and experiences at WSU. What a wonderful person he was.

Dear Kathy, I was so sorry to learn that Nelson had died, and felt bad that I had lost touch with you both. It was wonderful to read about his many contributions to improving our lives in Ann Arbor. I feel grateful we have such dedicated citizens as Nelson. My condolences to you and your dear family. Sincerely, Marcy

I remember going for walks with Uncle Nelson after Thanksgiving dinners at his and Cathy's home in Ann Arbor. Hiking at the County Farm Park or the Arboretum was a very enjoyable way to help digest the Holiday meal.

I remember Nelson from our days on the "Friends of Parker Mill" Board ~thoughtful man, good solid ideas. He made his mark on
Washtenaw County in so many significant ways. Sending sincere condolences to his family and friends.

A man of many talents and noteworthy accomplishments along with being a loving family man.

I always enjoyed talking with Nelson when I'd come upon him and his dog, Skipper, when walking my dogs in the County Farm Park. He was such a wise, kind man and a true inspiration. He will be sorely missed!

Nelson was such a pleasure to know and involved in so many worthwhile ventures for our town.
What a contributor to Packard Community Clinic and the County Farm Park, opening the park for years when it was gated and greeting you on the trails. Sweet man!

I sat next to Nelson at City Council; he was always a gentleman and always acted in the best interest of the City. He will always be remembered as a truly good man.
