Nelson Louis Neely Jr., was born on March 8, 1986 to the proud parents of Nelson Louis Neely Sr., and Dakota Denise Collins Veasey-Neely in Jacksonville, Florida.  As a young child he joined Windsor Village United Methodist Church where he is still a member there.

Nelson attended Booker T. Washington where he graduated on August 14, 2004.  While in High School Nelson excelled academically.  He enjoyed being a part of the ROTC, Boxing, and Audio Engineering as extracurricular activities.

Nelson went on to do great things.  On August 23, 2004, Nelson joined the United States Marines Corps.  During his service, Nelson served three tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan.  He was very committed to serving his country even after his service ended on January 26, 2013.

On December 31, 2005, Nelson was united in Holy Matrimony to Ashley Alicia Roquemore-Vaughn.  Nelson and Ashley shared a deep bond and very loving marriage.  Of this union a beautiful daughter Sianna Dawn Neely was born on March 18, 2011.  Nelson was very proud to be a father and loved his daughter deeply.  It was such a joy to see their love grow.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Ashley; daughter Sianna Dawn Neely; parents Nelson L. Neely Sr. (LeTanya), Dakota D. Neely (Corey); Hubert A. Roquemore, Walterlene Roquemore; brothers, Christian A. Neely (Combunisha), Zatrick Webber, Roland Dickson, and Louis Neely; sisters, Itaska Dickson, LaQuanta Dickson, Nelshawn Neely, Beauty Neely; grandparents, Addie M. Collins (Edward), David D. Veasey, Beverly Giles (Ron), Johnny Lewis; great grand-parents, Henry and Mattie Collins; and many loving relatives and friends.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 11am.

Both Services will be held at Windsor Village United Methodist Church, 6000 Heatherbrook Dr., Houston, Texas 77085 - Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell, Senior Pastor and Christian Neely, Eulogist.

Burial will take place in Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas 77038. Houston Honor Guards will be in charge.

I'm sorry for your loss. I served with this great man, this bear of a man, who I looked up to and respected deeply. He's keeping all our brothers that have passed on, in check on the streets of heaven. This man is a legend.
