I was saddened to see that Newell had passed away recently. I originally got to know Newell in the 1970's when he was still loosely connected with the law firm of Powers & Hall (where I was a young lawyer) through the GMA Foundation and we periodically had lunch over the years. Newell was one of the most caring, kind people I have ever met, always ready to give a young person a helpful word of encouragement!
