Nicholas Bartels

I was a resident playwright at Victory Gardens for many years and Nick was such a talented and sane person to work with on our shows. Us arty types can be a tad stressful but Nick did a great job and never lost that gentle, bemused smile when helping us realize our visions. Such a good guy.

I have so many great memories with Nick it's going to be hard to write them without crying. Nevermind that, I am already crying. Nick and I worked for years at the Victory Gardens 2257 Lincoln location loading in numerous shows sharing a drink at Kelsey's after work. I worked with Nick at Victory Gardens for quite a few years and will always remember his lopsided smile and his sense of humor. I am not sure I ever saw him in a bad mood, even during tech rehearsals.
He was always offering to help before you asked, even if it pulled him away from his own work.
My condolences to his family and friends. He was a special guy who will be missed.

Im so sorry to hear of Nicks passing. I worked with him at Victory Gardens. The world has lost a good hearted guy too early. My deepest sympathy to his family.
