MOUNT ZION - Nicholas William Gosnell, 24 of Rural Mt. Zion, passed away at 7:15 a.m. Friday February 29, 2008 in Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday March 4, 2008 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 till 8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to CASA Volunteering Advocates 140 S. Water Suite 100 Decatur, IL. 62523. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family c/o www.dawson-wikoff.com. Nick was born November 9, 1983 in Decatur, the son of Timothy and Sandra (Elliott) Gosnell. He was a 2002 Mt. Zion High School Graduate, a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church. He volunteered for the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in assisting abused and neglected children for many years. He was very dedicated to his cases and loved helping others. Nick had Muscular Dystrophy and never let that stop him. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan, always wearing his orange and blue. Surviving is his parents: Tim and Sandy Gosnell of Rural Mt. Zion; sisters: Stacey Rohman and her husband Brad of Mt. Zion, Melissa Gosnell of Rural Mt. Zion, and Erin Gosnell of Decatur; paternal grandparents: Woody and Ginny Gosnell of Mt. Zion; maternal grandparents: Dale and Jeannette Elliott of Decatur. Also surviving Uncle "Doo" is his nephews Devin and Alex and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal great-grandparents.
