MANCHESTER - Nicholas G. Kacavas, 85, of Manchester died peacefully on Aug. 10, 2012, surrounded by his loving family at Elliot Hospital.

He was born in Lowell, Mass., on July 20, 1927, and was the son of George and Diana (Goulas) Kacavas. Mr Kacavas, was a veteran of World War II, having proudly served in the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre in the Philippine Islands.

He was co-owner of Keystone Press and later employed with the Union Leader Corp. as a printer.

Mr. Kacavas, was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral and also held memberships in the AHEPA, NOA Club, past vice-president of the church board and was union steward at the Union Leader Corp. He was a member of the Typographical Workers Union of America. Being with his family, especially his grandchildren, gave him the most enjoyment in life. In his spare time he also enjoyed golf.

Members of the family include his wife of 62 years, Mrs. Betty Kacavas, of Manchester; one son, John P. Kacavas, U.S. attorney, and his wife, Mindy, of Manchester; one daughter, Maria Lustenberger, and her husband, Daniel, of Epping; six loving grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins; a predeceased brother, Theodore Kacavas.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Cain & Janosz Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 74 Brook St., corner of Pine Street. The Trisagion Service will be conducted at 5:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at noon in St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Burial will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery.
