1st Lt. Nicholas Madrazo

Dear Joel & Jenny Madrazo,

We are so sorry for your loss, but rest assured that Nicholas is with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Nicholas will be remembered by not only his friends and family, but his comrades as well. Jim Morrison and I have a little bit in common with Nicholas. We both graduated from Bothell High School - class of 1964, we are both Veterans Im a Marine as well, and we both fought in the Vietnam war.

Nick and I graduated boot camp together at MCRD SD on Sept. 5th, 2003. We kept in touch for a few yrs after boot camp before losing touch. I have to fight back the tears at the thought of Nick not being here anymore.

I served as an officer in the airborne battalion of the French Marine corps that was located with you at Nijrab.
I remember the several patrols we did together in this part of Afghanistan.
I remember your happiness and your pride to fulfil this demanding mission.
I remember the quality of your human relationships with French or Afghan soldiers.
I don't forget you. I will keep in mind your faith as a benchmark in my life.
