Rev. Nicholas Barclay Phelps

I was privileged to know Reverend Phelps´s at UCLA. I arrived in 1962 as a graduate student who knew no one on campus and I benefited immensely from his welcoming fellowship in our Episcopal Canterbury group. (We shared a Williams-Wesleyan connection). Moreover,Reverend Phelps was an exemplar of human decency and civility in a time of great societal stress at UCLA. I grew up in Williamstown, Mass and was a member of St John´s Episcopal Church there. My aunts were members, and specifically the organist and choir director of St Andrew´s church in Blackington, where we attended services occasionally. I was a child but have fond memories of Reverend Phelps at both churches. Didn´t know he was living in the Philadelphia area where I live now.
