BECKER RITTER ELMBROOK FUNERAL HOME Obituary

Born to eternal life on March 20th, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved father of Wendy Staves and Michael (Anastasia) Stavropoulos. Proud Papou of Niko, Mia and Teddy.

Dr. Nick was a man of dignity and quiet elegance. Born in Drama, Greece, he and his family survived World War II and the civil war. As the son of a pediatrician, he would tell of the calling to practice surgery at the early age of 7. Dr. Nick received his medical degree from the University of Athens. He served as a physician in the Greek army. In November of 1953 he left his native country and family to immigrate to America, eager to receive surgical training. He completed residency at Harlem Hospital in New York City, where he became Chief, and was the attending physician to Martin Luther King. He practiced surgery at both St. Luke?s and St. Francis Hospitals; he established his own practice where he served the community for 40 years.

He had a passion for his home on Lake Michigan, or as he referred to it ?my paradise?. He was astute at history and orthodox faith, and enjoyed Ralph Lauren attire. He loved nature, listening to Mozart, his Mercedes, playing tennis and golf. He was a member of the AHEPA.

Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 26 from 4 to 8 PM. A Trisagion service will be held at 7 PM. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 27 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 9400 W. Congress St., Milwaukee from 9 AM until the time of service at 10 AM. Committal service to follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Milwaukee.

Memorials in his name to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church or Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church appreciated.
