Not sure what to say?

My wife, Darlene, passed away unexpectedly on 10 December 2021. Perhaps she and Nick are sharing a birthday toast together in Heaven. It's a nice thought anyway...

I remember Nicholas making choices as a toddler. I can still see his contemplative expression as he debated the merits of peanut butter versus cheese for his sandwich, or decided which shirt he would wear that day. I also remember the patience both his parents exhibited as he considered his options: Nic did not make speedy decisions! I asked Harriet once why she didn't just give him a sandwich or pick the shirt. She said they wanted Nic to learn to be thoughtful about options, and that...

I am remembering Nicholas and you, Harriet and Jim, in my prayers this week. I know that your faith and your memories will sustain you. I send my love.

Kate

Jim and Harriet, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Nic as a bright, happy youngster. In particular, I have a memory of him as a toddler, when he sat on your lap at the piano, Harriet, adding his notes to yours. Clearly he grew up to be a thoughtful and compassionate man, who, at the last, gave the gifts of life and hope to others. I hope you can find some comfort in that. I send loving thoughts and prayers.

Dr. James and Harriett Uphoff - I, along with The LexisNexis Raleigh Family would like to extend our deepest condolences and sympathy to you. Quite a few of us transferred here to Raleigh from Dayton and had known Nic for years. Please know that Nic touched many lives with his kind spirit, generosity and friendship. Nic will be missed by all of his colleagues at Lexis. May you be surrounded by God's peace and understanding.

I was so saddened to hear about Nicks passing. Even though I hadnt seen him for many years, I have fond childhood memories from our summers at Alices and Grandma Tinys. He was a kind, gentle soul. You have my deepest sympathy.

My condolences to you, Jim and Harriet. My immediate memories of Nic go back to the Lutheran Church of Our Savior. Nice and our daughter were in the same confirmation class and were confirmed together. May you hold happy memories and parental love in your hearts during this difficult time. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

Jim and Harriet, I am so sorry. I am keeping you in prayer. Be gentle with yourselves.
