Nicholas T. Galouzis, age 91, of Valparaiso, IN (formerly of Campbell, OH) and born in Greece on September 14, 1924, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016.
Nicholas was the loving husband of Kaliope Galouzis. He leaves behind 3 children: Katherine (Van) Siatras of Valparaiso, Tom (Jeannie) Galouzis of Valparaiso and Melina (Dimitri) Yallourakis of Valparaiso; 6 grandchildren: James (Stacey) Siatras, Nicholas (Katie) Siatras, Nicholas Galouzis, and Kali, Maria and Michael Yallourakis; and 3 great-grandchildren: Katerina Siatras, Evangelos Siatras and Maryanthi Siatras.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Themelis and Kaliope; sisters: Nomiki and Sevasti; and brother: Andonis.
Nicholas was a member of the Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church in Campbell, OH, where he served as cantor for over 40 years. Locally, he attended both St. George Church as well as Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral. He was a proud retiree from Youngstown Sheet and Tube and L.T.V. Steel. Nicholas loved his family, his church and enjoyed traveling back to his homeland.
A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8000 Madison St., Merrillville, IN, at 10:00 AM, with Father Ted Poteres and Father George Pappas officiating.
Friends can visit with the family on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral at 9:30 AM until the time of the funeral service. Interment to follow the service at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso, IN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Fanari Camp, St. Iakovos Retreat Center or to Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church, 401 12th St., Campbell, OH 44405.
