Nick Montiel

BLACKWATER — Nicholas Richard "Nick" Montiel, 27, of Blackwater died on Sept. 15, 2011. The service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the family home, with the Rev. Byron Jackson officiating. A wake will follow. Mr. Montiel was born on July 31, 1984, in Phoenix. He thought of himself as a "free spirit" and thought all people should be free. He loved life and people and said everyone deserved a second chance. He loved to travel to the mountains and California and loved beaches, camping, cooking, eating and having a great time. He truly loved his family and loved to share. Survivors include his mother, Lydia Montiel of Phoenix; his companion, Esiquio Rodriguez; a sister, Anna Ruiz of Phoenix; and a brother, Antonio Ruiz Jr. of Phoenix. J.
