Conoci a Nicolas en 1994 al fundarse el Cuban National Heritage y tuve el gusto y privilegio de asistir a varias de sus conferencias y disfrute mucho el escuchar sus historias sobre su obra y vida en Cuba y fuera de ella y sus planes para una Habana posible en el futuro. Se nos ha ido un grande de la arquitectura cubana, y un amante de la Habana pasada, presente y futura! Hasta Siempre, Maestro!

Nicolas, un amigo ejemplar, arquitecto, profesor, y una gran persona. Gracias a el pude conocer a la ciudad que perdi en mi infancia. Su gran vision siempre fue reconstruir y salvar nuestro patrimonio y cultura cubana, con un amor especial hacia la Habana. El mundo nos ortoga pocos como este gran maestro, pero sin duda, su legado existe y permanece en todos los que nos ha iluminado, y no sera olvidado.
