Not sure what to say?

Niels was a fine and gentle man who brightened our lives with his leadership and good humor. He will be missed but also remembered with fondness and respect.

Niels was a wonderful mentor to me when I started out in publishing. He was intelligent, compassionate, brave and funny. I loved working for him and always had the utmost respect for him. I am so grateful I had the chance to know him.

Susan:

I worked with Niels at John Wiley in the late 70s. We had some great times there. He created an atmosphere that made it a place where you looked forward to going to work each day. He was kind considerate and a great boss. A good part of what I learned about publishing and being a good manager came from observing him. I am very sorry for your loss

Susan...although it has been a long time since we have seen each other, I will always remember the good times I had with you and Neils. He was a true gentleman with a great sense of humor and love of life. My thoughts and sympathy are with you during this difficult time....hope Mary Cowell and I can see you again soon. Take care.

Dear Susan:
It has been quite a few years since we worked together at A&L, but Sally has continued to keep me updated on how you've been doing during that time. I was so very sorry to hear of Neils' passing and wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you and your family at this difficult and sad time. May your wonderful memories of Neils bring you comfort in the days ahead.

Goodby 'ol buddy. I'll miss our "Lunches at Lily's" and our on-going discussions and interest in books and jazz and 'Netflix' movies. The best boss one could have but above all, a best friend.

We were so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow.

One of the most genuine people I have met, and one of the most thoughtful and kindest. Times with Niels were always laughter filled and never politically correct. He always had the guts to say what he meant rather than what he was expected to say. We will miss him.

What a delightful man and fantastic partnership. McGraw-Hill is grateful.
Sincerely,
karen davis
