Not sure what to say?

I found this site while looking for Niels' father online. I remember how often Ralph spoke of his love for Niels & Tove. My heart was saddened when I heard of his passing, & reading the messages here reinforces the sense of loss. I pray that his family continues to share memories of this wonderful young man who touched so many lives.

To my friend High school friend Niels Thanks for been a friend and a brother to me when I never had a family to speak of. Thanks for all the good conversations and good times we shared back in the day. I am hoping that you put on you grave stone “wish you were here” like the promos we made each other. I also would like to give my condolences to Judy and Tova, I wish I would have know, I will make it to his grave site soon

To Niels daughter Beria if I had to pick a caricature that...

I'm Mike Paulson's Mom, Carol. Mike kept us up on the fight your family went through with you. Like we did with Mike. I think you both were an inspiration for each other. Never giving up on the battle. I know Mike kept me going. Tove, it was so sad the day I read the message that Mike forwarded to us about Niels leaving us. Now they are in a better and happier place

Hi Niels: I hope by now you have met my son Michael. You two have had so much in common over the last few years.
Michael may be busy yet meeting his grandparents and cousins. He'll be there.

Hi Niels, we celebrated your birthday yesterday at the farm. We put notes on balloons and let them go up in the air. I've been collecting origami birds at work, the very kind you used to make I see almost everyday hanging here and there, even from the lights and the doorways, cute green ones on the microwave in the break room. Not sure who makes them but I like to think they are from you. I collected them and wrote happy birthday on them and that I missed you, tied them each to a balloon....

I had the great privilege of working with Niels at The St. Paul Companies. I have thought about him often. We are trying to accomplish some crazy technical things at work, and I often think we would be in great shape if Niels was here to help us out. I also think of Figen, Beria, Tove and others who love and miss Niels deeply. My thoughts and prayers are with you. He was a great guy. All who knew him were enriched, and going forward without him just doesn't seem right.

Happy Father's Day Niels. I went to see you today. I thought your stone looked nice, it says "wish you were here" I left some things for Figen that I found while moving. One is a valentine you made for me and Dad, one was a letter I wrote to Betsy where I talked about you and an experiment we did on the candy machine at Dad's store. I put our the photo I have of both of us eating ice cream in plastic and put it on your marble. It makes it look more real, like this was really a person. I wrote...

Allow me to extend deepest sympathy to Niels' family from the Computer Science department at the University of Wisconsin - River Falls. The news of Niels' passing just reached us today. I remember his laughing, smiling face so well sitting in my classes. He was so bright and articulate. Even through I have not seen or heard from him since graduation, I share your pain. Your family will be in my prayers as you struggle with this loss.
