Not sure what to say?

His cousin, June attended some of his concerts with her husband Brian Oliver whilst he was playing in London. They have fond memories of those days.

The achingly sad news of Nigel's passing reached me late when I tried to contact him and found his home and cell phones both out of service. The portrait of him painted by all the comments on this site is spot on, but I will add my own story with him: I met Nigel while I was a junior at Amherst College (and a clarinetist) and he had come to Smith College that year to replace Lory Wallfisch, a regular member of the piano faculty who was on sabbatical leave. Uncle Nigel, I miss our monthly phone calls. Wish we would have spent more time with each other, but raising a family takes time. I regret only learning of you through the phone and letters. I feel I never got to know the inner you that many others have been blessed with. Love you and God speed.

Rest in Peace my wonderful Professor Coxe! Your piano lessons were inspiring and life changing. I feel blessed to have been your student and continue in your legacy and share the love for music. You will be forever loved and we will miss you always.

Nigel je ne t´oublierai jamais, ton sourire restera gravé dans mon coeur de Paris a Amherst . Merci pour ton amitié précieuse

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Nigel, a truly remarkable and accomplished musician. He had an extraordinary gift for sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience without ever making me like the novice I was. His encouragement made learning an inspiring and joyful experience. He was not only a mentor but also a kind and patient soul who nurtured my growth and passion for music. His legacy will live on through the music and the lessons he imparted, and I will always be grateful for...

I studied piano with Nigel Coxe from 1972 to 1974 and would not be playing the piano today if not for his support and expertise as a teacher. His performances were revelatory. His kindness and care for his students was extraordinary.

Nigel was my piano professor at UMass Amherst from 1983 through 1989. He was a wonderful teacher and friend. I will miss him greatly.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always.
