I miss him. Such a large heart and great mind. Hope you are all okay.

So sorry to hear of Mr. Niranjan Ramakrishnan's passing. I stumbled onto this site while doing another google search. I met Niranjan and his wife Shailaja in 2003 in Portland, OR at a Aruna Sairam concert. I had flown in from Alaska just for the concert and afterwards Niranjan and Shailaja offered to drop me off at the hotel. One meeting and all these years later I still remember our brief chat in the car! That says something about a how memorable that meeting was. Sorry - that he had to go...

We are sad to hear of his passing. We knew him through the friendship of our daughters. We met him only twice, once after he was communicating only via computer. But his warmth and wit were evident then, as was the warmth and generosity of Sailala and Vinjay - in spite of a slow, cruel disease. Jayati - thank you for letting us know him better with your vivid biography. He clearly touched more lives than a `guestbook´ can show. We wish for strength for all of you.

My Deepest condolences to the family.

This is one of the most beautiful obituaries I have ever read: he dances off the page into all of our hearts. Thank you for the beautiful portrait of him; it is a gift to all of us. A gorgeously-written tribute to an amazing person.

I met the Ramakrishnan family in the early 1990s when they moved across the street from my house. Vinay and Jayati played with my grandson, Max, while Shaila finished her degree in education and we enjoyed visiting their garden, sampling ripe berries and fresh vegetables. We were introduced to Indian foods. When I began volunteering at the Tigard Historical Association, Niranjan set up the necessary internet connections and patiently introduced me to email. He had a wry sense of humor,...
