With great sadness the family of Noella Delia Mercer announces her peaceful passing in her 82nd year on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Victoria Hospital, London. Beloved wife of the late William Mercer (1975). Loving mother of Michele Caldwell (Jeff), Dawn Jarvis (Doug), Terri Von Wolff (Richard) and Lisa Keane (Jeff McGuffin). Dear grandmother of Darcie Caldwell (Kris), Ryan & sister Andrea Jarvis, Chris Keane (Mary), Dave Keane (Sara), Derek Mercer (Elisha), Myles Mercer, Nicholas & sister Alexandra Von Wolff (Leland). Great-grandmother of Audrey, Connolly and Olivia. Survived by her siblings Frank Lachance, Annette Gordon and Jackie Guttormson. Also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her daughter Kim Mercer Anderson (2004), her son Dale Mercer (2006), and her siblings Anita Hawkins, Aurele Lachance, Irene St-Jean and Georgie Labow. Noella "lived for her family." Noella thought that you are put on this earth to teach lessons or to learn lessons. Her strength was ever present in her life's resilience. From her survival of a horrific car accident as a young women, to the tragic loss of her husband and going on to raise 6 children alone while struggling with ongoing health issues, mom was our rock. She believed she could and she did: member of the Dutches of Kent legion - Women's Auxiliary & Treasurer for many years; excelled at bowling, the game of darts and Euchre. Indeed her 6 children and 9 grandchildren can attest to her schooling of life and Euchre, a game that continued at Riverside Retirement Residence. Many of her friends there will tell you that you must be sharp when you're playing with Noella. Grandchildren's quote "I want to be on Munga's team!" She was so proud and adored her family and we all felt the same way. Visitors will be received in the O'Neil Funeral Home, 350 William Street, London on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until time of the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Mark Maloney officiating. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, London. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.ca). Life was given to us by a remarkable loving caring woman, Noella Delia (LaChance) Mercer ~ remembered for her tenaciousness; She never gave up; She was the family rock; the glue to our fabric of life. Noella ~ knew a lot about life and loss; She always and graciously weathered the many storm (of which she saw many).
She taught us so many things and with such zest for life: arm wrestling, baseball, crochets, bowling, cards, euchre/Texas Hold-um, cribbage, darts, crossword & puzzle solving,...

The moment that you died my heart was torn in two, One side filled with heartache, the other died with you.
I often lie awake at night, when the world is fast asleep, and take a walk down memory lane, with tears upon my cheeks.
Remembering you is easy, I do it everyday, but missing you is heartache that never goes away.
I hold you tightly within my heart and there you will remain. Until the joyous day arrives, that we will meet again. ~ Unknown
