Nona M. LaBar, 88, formerly of Wind Gap, PA, passed away Tuesday, December 5th, at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem, PA.

Nona was born in North Bangor, PA on May 14, 1929, a daughter of the late Truman and Nona (Miller) Johnson.

She was the widow of Stanley N. LaBar, who passed away in 1996. Nona was employed as a sewing machine operator at Majestic Athletics in Palmer Twp., PA, until retiring in 2013. Prior to that, she was employed at various garment mills in the Slate Belt area.

Nona was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Bethel, PA. She was also a member of UNITE, the garment workers union.

Nona is survived by a daughter, Fay Vester, wife of Ronald, of Murrieta, CA; a son, Gerald L. LaBar, husband of Louise, of Bangor, PA. 4 grandchildren Todd and Jeremy LaBar, and Ryan and Aaron Vester, and 2 great grandchildren Hudson and Henley LaBar. Nona was preceded in death by two brothers George and Richard Johnson, and two sister, Florence Hendershot and Martha Coe, who passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 9th, at the Gaffney Parsons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Lillian Lane, "Village of Johnsonville", Bangor, PA with Chaplain Larry Rissmiller officiating. Family and friends are invited to call 10 - 11 AM on Saturday, December 9th, at the funeral home. Burial will be held at the East Bangor Cemetery, East Bangor, PA.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 703 S. Delaware Driver, Mt. Bethel, PA 18343.
