Merritt Funeral Home Obituary

Norbert L. Weber, 89, of Mendota, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. Norbert was born on August 12, 1935, in Peterstown, Illinois, to Edmund and Loretta (Sondgeroth) Weber. On December 26, 1959, Norbert married the love of his life, Rita Krumholz, in a beautiful ceremony at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Metamora. Their love for each other was a true testament to commitment, and together they built a life filled with joy, faith, and family. Norbert was a kind and generous soul, always eager to lend a hand to his friends and family. He had a deep love for his garden and he could fix anything. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rita; his parents; his son, John Daniel Weber; and his sisters, Joanne (Alvin) Montavon, Sister Elaine Weber, Ruth (Jim) Fandel, and Rita (Louis) Pakula; and brother, Ralph Weber. Norbert leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family. He is survived by his children: Susan (Scott) Seifert of Baraboo, WI; Mark (Deb Bradley) Weber of Pebble Beach, CA; Elaine (Jay) Schmidt of Bloomington, IL; and Eric (Rachel) Weber of Atlanta, GA. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and his two dear siblings, Carol (Greg) Apuli and Ray (Patti) Weber.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Horner- Merritt Funeral Home in Mendota, with the recitation of the rosary at 3:45 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Holy Cross Church in Mendota, celebrated by Father Fronek. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all those who have supported them during this time, especially the staff at Allure and Stonecroft of Mendota. Not sure what to say?

We've been great friends over the years. We worked together at Motor Wheel back in the late 70's and early 80's. Will always appreciate the sense of humor and friendship. Nobert will be missed by some many people. May he rest in peace.

Sending our deepest condolences to Eric and his family during this time.

So many fond memories with Uncle Norbert including playing euchre, learning about gardening, playing baseball, making homemade ice cream. Most every Sunday afternoon growing up was spent with our families being together. So much love and great memories.

Our condolences to the Weber family with the passing of Norbert.

Friends of Susan and Scott Seifert

We are sorry to learn of Norb’s passing. We have great memories of him & Rita and their famous-to-us sweet rolls. They were such good friends to Eldon & Kay.
