Norm Rickles Dec. 15, 1950 - Aug. 14, 2019 Norm Rickles, unanimously acclaimed "great guy," stopped smiling Aug. 14, 2019 after a two year battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. He made us promise that we wouldn't say that he "battled courageously" but, sorry....he did....

Not sure what to say?

OMG, that SMILE. He could light up a room and seeing that photo lights up ours. Love and miss you Normie.

That photo of Norm, holding his sax in the Grateful Duck t-shirt is the quintessential image that we can all remember and continue to cherish about Norm. Hard to believe we lost that truly great guy with the infectious smile almost a year ago. So many people miss you Norm, including Leslie and me, but we all had the great fortune of your friendship and were lucky to have you make all of our lives a little bit better.

Loving Light Dishgarden

Norm and I met at Wilson High 50 years ago. I was privileged to practice law with him for 25 years, something we talked about doing early in our careers. You all know that Norm was one of the nicest men in the history of the lives of his family and friends. Every year, Norm and a few lawyers in our firm had an annual luncheon with George and Harry Glickman at the MAC. George was very much like Norm, and Harry had enough Buckaroo and Blazer stories to last for many years.

I do believe...

Rabbi and I were friends of Shirley and GeorgeShirley was my mentor and it was obvious how proud she was of her boys. Over the years Betsy and I have developed a special friendship. Her life with her beloved Norm seemed joyous. Their different backgrounds seemed to enable them to blend their families to enrich Norm's life and hers. We send her our warmest thoughts at this time.

We agree that Norm is best described as an all-around great guy! I will especially miss his enthusiasm; his robust smile was a community service that warmed rooms and radiated a joy to life. Our condolences to Betsy, Liz, Emma and all who feel the large void left from Norm's passing.

Whether it was the infectious smile, the joyous laugh, or the hearty hug, Norm could both light up a whole room or make just one person feel special. If the dictionary had a definition of cup half full there would be photo of Norm. From our days in law school, over 40 years ago, to the annual trips to Little Whale Cove, to the annual NBA playoff pool, and so many times in between, there are just so many wonderful memories of Norm. He was one of a kind. He will be so missed, by so many.

Norm was one of a kind and like everyone else I loved his sparkling personality, quick wit and great sense of humor. He had the best smile ever, one that could light up a room!
I'm happy that Norm experienced such joy with his dear daughters Liz and Emma and with his beloved Betsy. I remember when Norm and Betsy got together my brother Stephen and his wife Melissa ran into them and afterwards said to me There's something magical going on there!
Norm was one of Tommy's most...

Never a more genuine smile, greeting and hug shall we ever know. The stars embrace him.
